CURRENTLY ON REPEAT: Ólafur Arnalds, Alicia Keys, & More

As the pandemic rages on with no sign of letting up, music continues to be one of the things keeping me remotely sane. It also remains a source of inspiration during times when I feel particularly stuck.

This week, there's been a few songs heavily on my rotation that I felt like sharing. With the exception off Ólafur Arnalds, the vibe was r&b. Here's a rundown of what's been on repeat for me this week:

"Back To The Sky" - Ólafur Arnalds & JFDR

Ólafur Arnalds is an artist I've regularly turned to when I'm in need of music I won't be tempted to sing along to while trying to be productive. Given his extensive catalog that features a number of scores for film and tv projects, I'm always excited when a work pops up featuring a vocalist. A beautiful song and Icelandic singer JFDR's vocals immediately made me want to check out her albums as well.

"So Done" - Alicia Keys featuring Khalid

A song about being "so done" with trying to fit in or appeal to everyone else's expectations and instead live life on your own terms. "I'm livin' the way that I want" is a message I can always stand behind.

"4AM" - The Seshen

"Trapped inside my head looking for a way to get out of, of it." Yeah...

"Boomin" - Teyana Taylor featuring Missy Elliott & Future

Sampling Blaque's "808," this track off Taylor's latest LP is all about a woman saying exactly what she wants and how her partner satisfies her needs. Get it girl! Also, Missy is on the track which automatically makes it a win.
