Today's "Sunday Short" is another film I found myself revisiting this month: MR. MALCOLM'S LIST.
I first learned about Mr. Malcolm's List via the now sadly ended Black List Table Reads podcast back in 2016. Adapted from Suzanne Allain's novel of the same name, this period film/romantic comedy is both funny and charming. Eligible wealthy bachelor Mr. Malcolm is in search of a wife, but she must possess all of the requirements on his strict list to be worthy. When a slighted admirer learns of his list, she concocts a plan to use it against him.
I loved this episode of the podcast and was thrilled when I saw it was adapted into a short film back in 2019 as part of Refinery29's Shutterbox Anthology Series. A feature film adaptation is also in the works and slated for release in 2022 featuring some of the main actors from the short.
I couldn't resist resharing this one in a time where I find myself constantly revisiting the things that brought me joy. Hopefully, it makes you as excited as I am for the feature.
Check out Mr. Malcolm's List below written by Suzanne Allain, directed by Emma Holly Jones, and featuring an incredible cast comprised of Gemma Chan, Freida Pinto, and Sope Dirisu as Mr. Malcolm.
