With the recent news of Morgan Cooper's Bel-Air getting a two-season order at Peacock, a look back at one of his other films.
If you haven't seen Morgan Cooper's dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I have to assume you've been living under a rock. The teaser takes the story of the goofy West Philadelphia kid we came to love and morphs it into one much darker in tone. From Will learning how he avoided jail time despite being caught by police with a gun to Carlton giving off major conservative Republican vibes, so much is possible in this new retelling of the classic comedy series.
For today's "Sunday Short" pick, I wanted to share another short film by Cooper and one that resonated with me as well. "Room Tone" is centered around the sound guy for a renovation type show. It's a job he clearly excels at, but we soon learn that prior to this career he was a touring pianist who'd lost his love of playing. His piano now sits unused in his closet. As music begins creeping back into his life, will he finally play again or will his insecurities get the best of him?
Find out by watching Cooper's Room Tone below.
